Whats wrong ???

Only had my 2002 25k 1.8GS for about a month, happy until yesterday , was accelerating , there was a burning smell , traction control light came on , engine temp was fine , pulled over .
When I resarted the engine could still smell the burning , nothing obvious under the hood , now I have a raspy , metallic grating sound , changes with use of the clutch pedal , gearchange is still fine and car seems to be running well , only difference seems to be when lifting off the clutch pedal can feel it ( the pedal) judder a little.
Any ideas ? is this simply a clutch problem or something more sinister

Smells expensive to me.
Wouldn't have a clue as to what the problem may be. Could be the clutch like you say?

Is it an acrid smell? A bit like the brakes overheating? If so you've burnt the clutch out. Put the car in 3rd at about 25mph and floor the accelerator. If it revs but the increase in speed doesn't match the increase in revs, that'll be a fried clutch. replace it.
