There is another part like a hasp. The other part is flat with a slot, it fits on the bonnet and is hinged. It lies on top of this then you turn the loop thingy to lock it in place. Just like Dipps said, its like yer Missus' handbag, or yours if you are that way inclined. FFS there is a picture on the linky above.
