topping up levels under bonnet today, and don't know what this is, and why it's unplugged? Don't want to plug it in in case it's faulty and stops the car! Anybody advise please? IMG_1445.JPG

Cheers neilly..... in your opinion a factory fit, or after market? There's a connection (like a standard wiring harness) next to it.....

Guess the simplest thing will be to plug it it but a little worried that it will set all sorts of immobiliser / locking issues loose!

Not till I've got my EKA code!!! See the paranoia you have already installed in me!

Most people unplug alarm sirens because of an unreconciled fault on the system which causes the alarm siren to switch itself on and wont switch of until you have resolved the issue, have you got trouble with central locking remote fob? it may be there is a prob with the fob and needs to be recalibrated or renewed.
Have you tried your horn it could be an after market horn which somebody has installed but didn't like the tone so disconnected it.

If it is, then it is exactly the same as fitted to my D2, that one is the underbonnet alarm horn. There are multiple horns on the D2 which can be switched off or on as the owner demands, using diagnostics.

Cheers

I'd say it's an alarm sounder of some sort too but I don't have one of those up in that corner of the engine bay bulkhead. When the alarm goes off on mine, it uses the main horns and frankly that could wake the dead, it could even wake me!
Judging by the bracket, it looks like it is fastened to the bulkhead so it does look like it might be original equipment.

Horn works fine... loud! Often a little beep when locking after having bonnet open, or if locking when door open, so happy that's all OK. I'll plug it in and see what happenes, just not tonight as need wheels first thing tomorrow!

Madman... fob all good... just don't want to jinx things, as you say, if there's an unresolved fault, I don't want to create any problems... no diagnostics here!

Brian... agreed... the fixings and the electrical connections all look factory fit.....

Just to prove it .

In the morning I will go and disconnect mine and then try the alarms using the nanaocm to select each individually...LOL
@brian47 , not sure why yours does not have it there, the prefacelifts had them on the drivers wing, but yours is a FL??

Cheers
