whats the difference between transfere boxes

what is the difference between the transfere boxes

i see some people use the disco in the defender
can some one explain please

Its the ratios the disco ones are better in a defender if you use it alot on the motorway as it cruises at higher speeds at lower revs but arent as good for towing or off roading its all personal choice.

It also depends on what engine you have and tyre size. Don't bother fitting a disco
tfer box in anything before a tdi as it won't be powerful enough.
I have a disco gearbox/transfer box in my 110 and the gearing is noticeably taller (noticeable pulling away in 1st gear) but revs are a lot lower at 70 in top gear.

For all round use on a tdi probably better to leave it at standard, especially if you have 235/85 or 265/75 tyres.
