I've got a 89 110 (or were they called Defenders by 89?) that looks to have a sump plug missing from the base of the ermmm not quite sure how to describe it - behind the cooling fan (but lower) and attached to the main engine block.
I've put up an image of it here if it helps as the above description is awfull.
There's a fair amount of oil in that general area but i'm unsure if it's coming from the hole (that looks like it should be plugged)
Any ideas as to what the hole is for?

And those of you that who like visual tests - i've also found a very loose pipe clamp where two different disameter pipes meet running down to just behind the dipstick - what's this pipe carry?
I could do with an exploded diagram of the 19J engine as i'm trying to find the source of the dirty black oil that seems to be spreading out in the engine bay.
