I have an ex military 110 which I rebuilt four years ago fitting a 2.8 TGV and a recon R 380 and T box I also fitted a PTO driven Hydraulic pump and winch. Because the first engine was a V8 I also replaced many other parts at this stage as well as adding a new radiator and Allisport intercooler.
Now that Land Rover are building an engine with similar power and torque I am planning to buy a brand new Defender. My problem is putting a value on my current machine. It has covered 160000 miles 50000 on the new engine and gear boxes I have serviced it properly including a recent timing belt, the chassis is in good nick with no welding and the body work has a few dints here and there. With its original engine it would probably only be worth £1500 - £2000 but as it has the 2.8 and newish gear boxes I dont know how much this adds to the value. I have never seen a 2.8 for sale, what do you think this adds to the value?
