Well I got my Disco, a '97 300tdi that is basically standard other than a second battery/split charge fitted in the boot. Since getting it I've changed the engine, gearbox, transfer box and diff oils. I've also freed off the difflock so that now works. It's going to be part workhorse (I service/repair/break Mazda RX8s) shifting spares around and part toy for weekends greenlaning and pay'n'play days.

Part of me wants to go out and buy lots of shiny toys for it that I can then get dirty but realistically I know if I do that I will cock up and end up changing most of them at a later date i.e. wasting money.

So what do I do first? (other than tyres but we won't mention those :)

Eventually I will probably want to move the second battery to the front (for the winch that it hasn't got yet, **** I've started already) but for the moment I'm just going to fit an Anderson connector to it so I can plug a decent set of jump leads in, mainly for deflooding RX8s.

So, what do you guys think are the 'must haves'?

The best things I've done so far are blank the EGR and put a straight through de-cat exhaust on. Don't know how much the EGR thing even does.

It sounds good and and feels more powerful.

The other stuff has just been repairs really.
