Hi Guys...I have bought a pair of lamp brackets which fit on the front crossmember and protrude through the grille.

On my P38 (Now sold) I had two Wipac, 8" Stainless Driving Lamps and they were superb.
I feel sure that the 8" would be too big, diameter wise, for the F/L.

I see from Egay that Wipac do a 6" in Stainless and also a 6 3/4" which has a black plastic back and stainless bezel. The 6" comes with a stone guard and the 6 3/4" does not.
I will put 100W bulbs in them and they will operate via a relay off the Main Beam circuit.

I have looked at the F/L specific auxillary lamps (Pods) which fit on the front bumper and personally I think they look crap !!:eek:

What do you guys think ???
:confused::confused::confused:

I have on my a frame 6ins KC's with the protectors on I did notice on my old KC's that because they were 130 watts that the plastic guards were actually changing shape because of the heat

Thanks for the feedback Bud..appreciated.

How did you find the performance of the 6" ?? The light beams on my old 8" were great and I found 100W in those was more than sufficient for my needs. They were mounted on an "A" bar and didn't look mega large.
Obviously the Hippo is a smaller grille and I want something that blends in rather than having something that looks like a pair of dustbin lid sized lamps :D:D

the KC,s are great you can get different ones I think mine are the long range, but are expensive

Haven't heard of them.
I can get a pair of Wipac 6" all stainless for £49.95 + post or the Wipac 6 3/4" which have a plastic back for £24.95 + post.
As posted earlier, I found the 8" Wipac great on my old P38.
Living in rural Wales with narrow dark lanes, I find the headlamps just about adequate even on Main beam even though I uprated the bulbs to 100/80W-didn't want to go with 130W main beam for fear of distorting the plastic headlamp lens. I had 130/80W in my P38 but that had glass lenses.

Next job is to replace the tailgate with a good one I have from a breakers then remove the front bumper and fit the lamp brackets together with running the wiring through to where the lamps will fit.
:)

if you look at my profile picture they are the Kc's on the A frame they are 130 watt's sorry but I can not get to post photos somehow.

hiya

ive still got to buy some spots etc, got the land rover complete wiring loom etc off ebay,

im personally going to later on buy the square ones, a set of fogs and a set of driving lights

think the square ones look better seeing the grill and headlights are square

but of course down to personal choice and will also be buying the same type of brackets that stick through the grill

will be interesting to see how to find fixing them please, if there are any handy tils as its always good to get practical feedback etc please

hope u get on ok and there is a member on here that has the square spots on the brackets

pic of mounting panel for the four switches
