What is the difference in the petrol and diesel fuel l

I have a series 3 1983 petrol with an x military engine
Sadly its a non runner I think the fuel pump may have gone. I have removed the pipe from the fuel tank and held my finger over the end and cant feel any pressure.
What is confusing me is that it appears to be a diesel fuel pump (without a sedimentary bowl). Any ideas? I am planning on buying a petrol fuel pump from Paddocks.

they both work the same and are interchangable ,petrols dont have filter as such but bowl on lift pump

thanks. That explains why it has an inline fuel filter fitted just before the carb

you should check the earth is good for the pump if its not working at all

I assumed it would be the same as the early 2.25 petrol 90 and have an elecric pump, obviously not :doh:

I mentioned it as when I though my pump had died it was just a bad earth.
