Hi,

just a quickie but I wondered whether anyone knew of the correct ‘name’ or part # for the leaky rubber window seals at the top of the doors ?

She’s a ‘98 P38 Autobiography and needs a bit of TLC !

thanks

Bob

They are not that relevant, a lot of rain water will find itself inside the door and at the bottom are the drain holes
To let it out, What’s most important is the drains holes are clear, Even with perfect seals water will still enter the doors,

Hmmm, ok. But how does the water find its way into the door ?
I’m not sure I’m entirely comfortable with that thought !

I am also getting leaks into the drivers footwell (right foot) when splashing through puddles which concerns me

Usually leakage in via the pollen-filters.
Additionally, if the car has been in a wreck or has had a new screen and they haven't fitted the new screen properly you can end up with the footwell full of water and your BeCM in peril.

Runs down the windows past the seal you mentioned into the door, doesn’t matter how good the seal is you will still
Have water inside the door, you can remove the seal and clean it then a smear of silicone grease will improve its sealing, But you still will have water inside the door, If the door drain holes are blocked then water level could rise in the door and possibly leak into the car above the main door seal, it’s runs around the complete edge of door frame,

If it’s only leaking when going through puddles then I would whip out the carpet and insulation to check the footwells
Any corrosion here will likely be your problem,

They're called waist seals or waist rails.
They will stop a lot of stuff getting into the door but they won't stop all rain.
Rain will be able to pass them & will run down the glass into the door where it will drip off inside the door.
If you remove the door cards you should find plastic sheets stuck to the door frame.
These are weather sheets & rain will be prevented by these from getting onto the door cards & into the car. The rain then exits via the drain holes in the bottom of the doors.
If these are missing or damaged then rain can drip onto the door cards & into the car.
A common & often head scratching issue - not just Land Rovers.
On my RRC they were missing altogether & I could have kept fish in the front footwells.
Any plastic sheet will do & butyl mastic strip is used to stick it to the frame: https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/butyl-sealant/bn_7024804875
