hi
i have just bought a "54" plate 5 door XEI and should pick this up next weekend.

it's a 1.8 petrol with 57k on the clock and in excellent condition. i have traded my "01" plate Ford Focus which is by far the most reliable car i have ever owned in my 22years of driving.

my wife and I have been investigating 4x4's for a few weeks now as we live in a rural area and were hit bad with the snow last year. we liked a few differing styles/makes but always came back to the freelander.

a chance detour when at B&Q yesterday showed two on a 2nd hand dealers forecourt. one a 3dr 1.8 and the other 5dr. same price, same colour roughly the same mileage. went for the 5dr due to the added space really.

it has had the headgasket done already and hopefully when i get to see the documents/receipts this will show the better type of gasket being used.

other than the gasket and some minor electric issues i have read here, what shouldi be wary of in the day to day running of these?

thanks in advance

I like your avatar. You'll find Freelanders have their own little niche in the LandyZone.
Besides the nasty habit of spontaneous combustion and the fact that the doors fall off, the Freelander is known to have squirrelly VCUs.:welcome2:
