Ok, Having only owned my Defender 300TDI 1994 for a week im going for a fluid change.
10W40 semi engine oil, 80/90GL5 for front and rea diff, 80/90GL4 for transfer box, MTF94 for gearbox..

However, I have been told the gearbox oil depends on which one you have...how the frick do I know what model I have in mine - are there any tell tail signs you chaps could point out so that I may identify it?

Many thanks all...

p.s do the other oil specs look ok too? Heard GL5 is a no no in transfer box due to bronze reacting?

Many thanks, im right and down for reverse so looks like the R380 it is then )

Just been recommended the following - does it look about right?:
> Joe,
> Recommendations as follows:
> Engine - Multivis 10W/40
> Diff. - EP80W/90 GL5
> Gearbox - Lodexol MTF
> Transfer box - Lodexol 80W/90

thanks Mad Hat Man )

Put 80/90 gl4 in box and axles. It is fine in diffs and stops yu making an expensive mistake in tbox. Means yu only need to keep one type for top-ups too.
