That’s what I was thinking. I have the same wire from the starter motor to the alternator.I thought brown was live, battery/alt etc?
I think you might be right !! I tried to start it today and this wasn’t fitted so not earthed. It didn’t go too wellNot the heater plugs relay is it ?
Maybe on factory fitted items. But clearly this is aftermarket/owner fitted. So they could be anything.I thought brown was live, battery/alt etc?

I think this is factory fitted. The two heavy cables are fully shrouded over their entire length. The crimps look too well done to be DIY.
It’s been on their since I bought it over 10 years ago. It originally was a runway vehicle at Manchester Airport and has an ID plate on the seat box for British Airways. The terminals on the side of the battery box don’t look like a botch job to me either.Yes, someone's lovingly heat shrunk a tiny bit of sleeving onto each of the big wires but left the screw-on terminals out in the fresh air to go rusty and make accidental contact with the body shell. I hope there's a fuse somewhere as well as a relay!
If there's no delicate electronic equipment to damage, my approach to these things is to disconnect them and see what stops working.
