Hi all, i am looking to buy my first Landrover 90 but unsure what one to buy, i only want it for weekends and will only do about 5000 miles yearly, to be used for mountain biking trips and getting me to ski areas. I am wanting it to be cosy inside (heated seats a must). Budget can be up to £22000 for a newish one or happy to spend up to £15000 on the TD5. Space and extra seats not important. So what do i go for?

bluddy hell for that amount of money you could get a gold platted one.

but you still might struggel to find one that is cosy inside.

£22k should get you a brand new defender through NFU

Gold plated, lol, i dont think so having checked Autotrader, lucky to get a 2008 defender, I have also been looking on Landroversuk web site, some nice ones on there. Not sure what NFU is through.

Hve you had LandRovers before ? If you have and definitely want a Defender it ultimately depends on how many seats you want and how you want to carry your bikes.
I have a TD5 XS 110 sw and it isn`t what you would call comfortable. Then again I had a 109 and compared to that the TD5 is like a magic carpet
It suits me because of the other stuff we do as a family but if it was up to me I`d probably get a Disco. I have a RRC LSE as well, it is supremely comfortable but only does 14 to the gallon. The Disco would be the best compromise between the two.
For your budget you should get a cracker whatever you buy if you shop around - but take a long test drive, and unless you know what you are doing , take someone with you who does.

NFU is the National Farmers Union - I didn`t know they were a source of discounts on new LandRovers, I`d be surprised if they were.
James French, Roger Bass, Nick Kerner all usually have nearly new LR`s at good discounts - the specialist mags carry their adverts, also try Farmers Weekly, and obviously the web - Autotrader would be a good place to start

It's summit like 7% discount for NFU members
