Hey all,

Right, I've just picked up my new brake pipes, and I had planned to go to the Sort Out on Saturday, Just the small matter of fitting them and the getting an MOT pass between now and Saturday morning, What do you reckon?:)

Hi,

Just hope you don’t have the same experience as I have had today, got my mate who works at a landrover specialist to get it checked over before it goes in for an MOT.

However i got the nasty news that it needs quite allot of work!!!

Needs a new steering box fitted, new rear cross member, a new exhaust down pipe, new driver door hinges, hand brake needs tightening, and much more.

I’m going to try and do most of it myself, however the bits I cant do, I will get them to do.

All in all I have worked it out to cost around £800 (if I’m lucky!!!).

Oh well, it could be worse :(

Scott.

The Disco is about to go into the workshop, new pipes fitted yesterday, spoke to the garage this morning, and booked her in for this afternoon.

Heres hoping for a positive phone call in about an hours time!

did you get the positive call as you were hoping for??

Looks like my cost is going up :(

seems its a full days labour alone to change the rear cross member  :(

Scott.

Ah well, just over two hours have passed now and no phone call.

This could mean one of three things;

It has passed, and rather than ring me tonight they have all firked off home and will wait for me to turn up tomorrow to pick it up.

It has Failed, and rather than ring me tonight they have all firked off home and will wait for me to turn up tomorrow to pick it up.

They are still testing it or putting it right, seen as I did tell them what my budget was to sort out any minor niggles that I had missed ( I do this to save them , and myself, the hassle of making a phone call for authorisation to change a bulb or whatever).

Should I be this nervous?

Ah well, sometimes I wish I hadn't bothered

2 whole pages of failure points and 2 advisory items.

Beyond economical repair, even doing it myself.

See my next post for what I'm gonna do now!:(

Sorry to hear about that.
I decided that i would go against the recommendations of the landy specialists and did not get the work done which would have set me back nearly £1000 (as said above).
Took it to try and get the mot done, and it passed, the only thing we had to do to get it to pass was trick some red reflectors on the back of it.

So all turned out well for me.

Scott.
