Ive got a 99 Td5 that suffers with wet headlining both sides above the windscreen. I have started sealing things with duck tape to eliminate them and so far have sealed both sun roofs and around the ends of the roof bars and its still getting in. Where else is a known leak site?
Any info would be helpful
Cheers

Are you familiar with the vortex phenomenon? It is the principle that some parts of the earth are energy amplifiers. Discoveries amplify the element of water, much like Freelanders amplify fire. It's crazy mystery in the Land Rover world.

Oh, and duck tape is not a good sealer.

took the rear sunroof out of my early disco and replaced it with a nice piece of galvo metal, sealed then stainless blind pop rivits.
seems strange looking at my rear seats and not seeing damp patches on then or the stink of damp carpets...
the front sunroofs getting the same treatment next spring, as i think theres just too much glass in the roof..

(I dont need/want the sun shining on my head anymore)

Mines so wet inside the other morning I had to scrap the ice off both sides of my glass before I could move.

Duct tape does not really work unless you cover the whole thing along the roof surround and the gap at the edge of the glass. But it will eventually get in! There are two edges you need to seal on each roof.

Are you sure its the roof drains leaking? Windscreen seals are also known to let water in.

sunroofs, roof rails, corner gutters, windscreen surround, these are the main places for what you described, Duck tape/gaffer call it what you like, it wont work, the only solution is to take out the headlining and re seal the the sunroofs and roof rails for a start, then hose on top of windscreen after the sunroof have cured, search and you will find the answers that others have had

I had the same issue with my Td5, and blamed the windscreen installer. Fate had it that it broke 3 weeks later, so when I had it re-done, I remained and inspected the area before the new screen went in.

What I found is the roof panel does not completely seal into the gutter/front section, and a hairline crack was visible. I dug it out, made quite a big hole in removing the the old glue/fill, then made sure it was dried out before applying black gasket silicon cement.

I used that because it is much tackier than other sealant products. Since one NZ winter and spring deluges of rain and hail - I no longer have the issue.
