Wet footwells part 2

I put on a thread a few weeks ago about wet footwells in my 95 classic. I've now narrowed the wetness down to it happening when it rains, therefore I'm wondering where the rainwater could be running into the footwells from- i had a new windscreen put in her a few weeks ago and the windscreen man said something about it never having been sealed properly at the bulkhead- I'm wondering if thats where the water is tracking down the bulkhead into the footwells, both passenger and drivers side are wet. I've lifted the carpet and the wells themselves show no signs of corrosion!!!! Any thoughts, Dear Colleagues, would be most welcome!

One of the main areas of water getting in the footwells is past the membrane inside the doors. Rainwater runs down the inside of the plastic past the window seals and exits at the bottom of the door inside the car.

Get someone to play a hosepipe on the doors, while you get into an awkward position inside the car to watch for water drips from the bottom of the door card.

If you find that this is the cause you will have to take the door card off and re-fix the membrane(assuming that there is one in the first place).

that makes sense as the wettest part is right next to the door- the bit near to the tranny tunnel is dry- will go hosing tomorrow, thanks very much.

Locket is right in what he says and definatly worth checking,however on my classic there was water coming in behind the passenger side of the dash,we took the bonnet and decker panel off and found 4 or 5 possible causes as in perished cable entry grommets and a large plate which blanks up a hole used on lhd models.we sealed up everything and cured the leak.(luckily as its a pain taking of the decker panel).

i found mine leaked on the door seal just above the mirror on the a pillar.it was running down to where you say.i sorted it by tightening the door seals.i adjusted the door lock pin on the b pillar to do this.

Might be worth checking your sun roof drains.

thanks all for your comments, i am going to have a systematic look over the next few days- my days off work- and see if i can find a cause. Itd damned annoying as thats all thats wrong with it!!
