After making the decision not to sell my Problematic38, I took it to Land Rover Spares in Kendal last week to have the t/f box viscous coupling changed and the front prop fitted. Although the garage is 80 miles away, they've been around for ages and I knew the chap who used to run it (now sadly no longer with us) and they've alwyas had a great reputation.
So...I picked it up today and took it for a drive up to Ambleside then Rydal, Grasmere, over the hill to Langdale, down past Skelwith Bridge to Coniston and then back towards the M6 via Newby Bridge. It felt great and it was a great drive as there was hardly any traffic in the country lanes.
It was sadening to see the level of flooding still and I really hope the levels drop before the freeze comes. I used to be a voluntary national park ranger when I lived there so I know Langdale really well and it was surprising how many small lakes (tarns) have formed on high ground in what used to be fields.
So...the old girl is back in my good books at the minute!
