lryt i have just bought a defender 90 from 1989, it has not had to much welding done to it so far, just the foot welds and under the passanger seat as far as i can see i was just wondering if it is expensive and possible just to keep getting it welded each year for the next 5 years while i save up for a galvinised chassie regards jc cheers

? mine is a g reg csw and the chassis is better than many 1998 110 I looked at.
Unless it is terminally shagged a good wire brush and scholz with wax oil and cleaning out the moisture/mud traps=should last ages

If your chassis is solid (MOT standard) then its a good idea to protect it now. Waxoyle is one of the favourites. Plenty of tips can be found using the topic search on here (window at the top of page). Welding.... can be expensive, depends. You may even end up doing your own!:) and :welcome2:

alryt yea cheers lads, what about all the hole and stuff there is in the chassie like intended holes lol not rusted in ones ?? how do u cleen that out of the inside of the chassie in order to get all the dirt or trapped water out, becuase i have read that if you waxoil and trap dirt and water, it will destroy the chassie.
