Weird Oil Leak

Hi All
My 2.2 petrol has developed a weird oil leak!! It seems to be coming from the filter housing but its not clean fresh oil that Ive just put in but horrible thick black oil. I cleaned out the sump completely so wheres this stuff coming from?? There doesn't seem to be any new oil dripping onto the floor??

that's weird. a series should always leak...

Did you clean out the air filter housing as well as the sump?

No I didnt...what a numpty!! The old oil still shouldnt be leaking out tho. I suppose I should try replacing the housing cos Ive tried to reseat the filter three times.

Replaced o ring on the filter housing? Accidentally added it to existing o ring as it goes so hard and dirty it looks like the metal itself?!

The housing hasn't got a crack in it has it?
