Why is it that whenever you start a job in earnest you suddenly realise what a feckin ding dong it was the last time you did it !. Today was the day that I got round to doing the messiest job of all.......waxoyling the chassis. I don't own a spray gun or compressor so it was into battle with the standard issue waxoyl pressure cylinder and the "hair triggered" nozzle, this things got a mind of its own. Sticking in the "on" position when you don't expect it (fecking waxoyl everywhere). Any way it's done now for another year and the Landy is now standing over a tarp whilst it "cures". Next job is firing her up to burn the excess off the exhaust, reckon I'm gonna save that till Saturday, next door is up for sale and there's a viewing on Saturday.

Dunno grunt old chap. I suppose they'd be ok if you got the waxoyl "fluid" enough. I put my cannister in a large old pressure cooker body filled with water on top of a camping stove to keep it fluid. Dead safe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about mixing it with diesel or turps or parrafin or something similar? All tricks I've heard but have never tried.

Also d'you bother steam cleaning or pressure washing?

I mixed mine with about 10% white spirit. As for pressure washing it wont get a dose of that for a few weeks seeing as I've only just recoated it.

I'm fairly new to the landy scene. I'm getting a disco in a month or so, and one of the first jobs will be to waxoyl it. is it just a case of pressure washing the underneath and then covering everything? or do i need to be careful of/miss out certain parts? or just do the main chassis?

one more thing though - do you guys use the clear one or the black one?
and how do you apply it?
 
if yer gonna do it this saturday the best way to apply it is to get yer landy up on axle stands, put a camping stove under the landy, then place the can of waxoyl on the stove, light the stove and turn it up high, remember NOT to take the lid off the waxoyl, retire to watch england play, at half time you will hear a lod bang, go outside and turn the gas stove off, and lower the landy down, hey presto an automatically waxoyled landie ;)
 
i make sure the oil level is correct on the dipstick, then drive to london and back.
perfect chassis coverage.
repeat once per annum.
 
Hi guys dont thin waxoil down or it means you are not putting a nice thick coat on. If ya dont want to pay the price of waxoil a 50/50 mix of old engine oil and shutz is very good and cheep.....
 
Its like a BLACK TAR. You see it on the underside of good cars. Bad cars you just see rust....:D

Think its realy called SHULTZ or SHULTS

Anybody know how to spell it....
