Waxoyl kit..

That bloody Waxoyl High pressure sprayer is ****e..
only just got round to using it today, had the waxoyl Running like water after sitting it in a bucket of hot water for abit..
it sprayed for about 5 seconds got bunged up and then decided to give up, put the whole thing in some hot water and it freed it up again, still alode of ****e.. just got bunged up again! and im not watering the stuff down with Spirit, just beats the objective..

So iv spend 3 hours painting it on by hand.. and i must say im really glad i did! was so much more thorough, give me a good chance to give the entire underneath a real good lucking at too!

anyone else had this problem, should have known really, specially with it being chinese plastic!

They work OK in a Heated workshop or if your spraying in a Mid summer heatwave. But not so well in a barn in Yorkshire in winter......or any place that cold really. I had them spraying outdoors in the winter, but don't know how safe as I used to put the can on the Aga till it nearly boiled....bit hotter than warm water...but I needed to get the stuff into the box-sections, so painting wasn't an option, once had a can slip, stunk the kitchen out for about a week till the spill burnt off, missus wasn't too happy, such is life, on the flip side the Aga never rusted out.

aye.. i put it down to the cold weather..
I need to get inside the box sections too.. altho that will have to wait. atleast the painting on will do for now, until summer..

I actually liked the smell for the first hour, but then she arrived home and well lets say the nice feeling sort off wained over the next few hours, and by the fifth day was getting to divorce....even "well it wont rust" joke didnt cut much ice, almost as bad as the time she found a cylinder head in the dishwasher.

but thats another great tip...if you need to clean a grimy engine bit...pop it in on max wash and hey presto...2 hours later it will come out looking brand new, esp ally bits.

just do while she's out....remember to remove it before she gets home...be warned

aye and it probs ****ed her off every time she tried to cook somet and warmed the arga up, she got solidified waxoyl all over her nice new frock! haha

Ill tell ya what, iv never tried the dishwasher thing, but thats a bloody good trick, i know iv had a right good rollicking for knackering the washing machine with oily deposits!

Like ya say tho.. its gotta be done!

Get a compressor and a schutz gun with extension lance, it makes waxoyling so much easier.

Do it in Summer and thin it with oil based thinners or similar.

Thanks Walders, I've just remembered I bought a Shutz gun a couple of years ago, does it take Shutz cartridges or what.I have the compressor. I bought it 2nd hand off Ebay.

It is good stuff but not really suitable for diy unless as said above its the height of summer with a heatwave!!
I had a go and it clogged up in no time even on a fairly mild day......

i poured it into a bowl and sat the bowl in a steaming hot bucket of water and it was runny as hell.. was really good for painting on and stayed running for hours.. done a bril job with the pain brush.. just cant get into the cavity sections till summer..

Just refil the same cartridge / can.

You can buy waxoyl in schutz cans but it's cheaper to refill them from a gallon can. It does help to warm it up a bit but it's not really neccesary with a compressor set up. What really does help is thinning with white spirit (don't use anything else, thats the solvent used in manufacture) it helps the waxoyl creep into corners when doing inside the chassis, I wouldn't thin it for use on the outside though, it makes it too easy to wash off.
