I have a 1972 Series 3 with aluminium washer jets.

One of them is completely corroded and broken off.

Can you get replacements from anywhere? I can only find the nasty looking moulded plastic ones for sale.

Also, is there any easy way to get the to the nuts that hold them on? Can the dashboard top panel be removed without disturbing the instrument panel?

Thanks for any info.

Can't help you with the parts but the top of the dash does come off, mine is off at teh mo and all the instruments are still atached to the panel bit.

Dash top off, undo the instrument console and wiggle it forwards a few inches and it's a fiddly job to get to the nuts that hold the washer jets in place. I got ####ed off with trying the softly softly approach with mine so hacksawed off the old jets and drilled the stub back till it could just be pushed through the bulkhead, much easier that way.

The one on the driver's side was so corroded that it was more powder than metal. I snapped it off easily with pliers.

What do I need to undo to get the top panel off the dashboard?

I used one of those stubby interchangable screwdriver bits held in a pair of pliers to undo the screws that are right up next to the windscreen.

Thanks for the replies. That site doesn't actually give any indication of price.

I took the top dashboard off today so that I could remove the other broken jet.

I will use the plastic ones off ebay for now, originals are probably too expensive.

In doing this, I found out that the cable that switches the heater between demister and cab heating is broken. It is broken at the control end. How easy is this to replace?
