It is a shock how quickly some things can take affect.
Monday morning there was a slight knocking from the front of my P38 DSE, just as though a weight had come of a wheel.
It was about due for replacing the front tyres so thought to leave it a couple of days until I got them replaced.
Tuesday it was slightly worse, checked the wheel nuts were on tight enough and rocked wheels side to side and top to bottom to see if I could hear anything - nothing. Maybe the front discs were warped, I thought.
Wednesday morning set off for work, the vibration had got quite a bit worse from the day before and a couple of miles up the road BANG - the front propshaft had come apart separating from the transfer box and it was stuck in 3rd as it had sheared off a couple of bolts on the linkage to the gearbox (auto).
Had to call out the breakdown service, tied up the front propshaft, put the fuse in No 11 in the drivers seat and got it lifted to my local 4x4 Indie.
They are, as usual, very busy, but the timing of this was not too bad as it was just going to be sat outside the house for most of the next couple of weeks while I get some exterior painting done on the house.
It has come as a warning to myself, as well as anyone else that may not know, but if you get a vibration on the Rangie, no matter how slight it starts out, get it checked out very quickly.
The other thing is why it happened so quickly, so will need to check that VC in the transfer box has not seized.
