Evenin all,

Had a great day out at Avon Dassett on Monday. Lots of wading and deepest I've been (water over front of bonnet job and three or four inches of crap in the footwells):D

However, I forgot to put me wading plugs in:eek::doh:

All running well. But is there anything I should be worried about:confused: (apart from being a ****):)

A little silt in the timing cover and possibly gearbox. Maybe change the oil in the gearbox and flush once to make sure??

AND PUT THEM IN NEXT TIME!!!!! :D :D :D

Explain how silt gets into gearbox?

Drain plug only allows access into timing cover and clutch housing.
I suppose yu could wash them out without the engine running, but best to take timing cover off if you are concerned. Better than grit over timing belt etc.

Hmmm, clutch does feel a little different, so I could go for a bit of silt in there.

OK cheers, so, engine off, stuff a hose up the plug holes for a few mins then:)

(I actually keep the plugs in me dash for just such an occasion:doh:)

save all the agro, put breathers in leave the plugs in , no probs

......until yer timing case fills with oil that normally drips out the hole and rots yer timing belt till it snaps and yer bell housing fills with oil that normally drips out the hole and contaminates yer clutch till it slips and dunt werk any more.

Put ya plugs in the day before laning/off-roading and take them out the day after.

Landrover state leave in and remove every 6000 miles when changing oil to inspect. Shouldnt have a prob unless yo oil seals are shagged, in which case change the oil seal.

prob with leaving em out is most peeps do just that and remember the day after laning
