viscous fan

anybody know how to remove viscous fan, (2.5 n/a ) i managed to get the four bolts out that hold the pulley on but fan and pulley still wont come off, makes it a bit akward trying to get the water pump off as one off the water pump retaining bolts wont clear the pump housing as it fouls the pulley

Had the same problem last week, it's a left hand thread; I put my water pump in a vice and hit the spanner hard.

Unless it's different from mine just inside the plastic fan, I took off the four small bolts from the fan to move it and get a better grip on it.

If you clamp the fan belt so it cant spin a set of mole grips should grip the nut. There is a special spanner for it. A sharp tap with a hammer will loosen it ,reverse thread as mentioned. The fan should come off. The nut sits behind the fan and just inside it.
