My freebie has got a not so sweet vibration, you can feel it through the car. None through the steering or brake pedal.
Just checked my drive shafts and the front drivers side has some play in it when pulling on it from front to back (abouy 5mm or so) it also makes clicking noise.

Would this be causing it and do ineed to check anything else?

Where's the best place to get them from price/quality wise?

Would a be able to replace myself on the drive with normal tools?

If i took it to a garage how much would it cost roughly?

thanks

I had an issue similar to this. Was caused by uneven tyre wear, almost on the legal limit.

Thanks for the replies

The noise seems to constant but does sound worse when cruising.

Have checked all my tyres, there all good. No saw toothing on the rears

Would the amount of play in the shaft cause the vibration?

Update: I was driving down some country lanes today and when i was moving off from a junction i noticed a ticking/clicking noise coming from OSF.

Tried it a few times and it does it every time. When stationary and reving the engine it sounds fine. so it must be drive train related.

Will the play thats in the drive shaft be causing it?

thanks for any help

If its not your drive shafts,it could be anything.
If as you say its knocking when on a right lock take off,its almost certainly your drive shaft.
I cant believe the fugging vcu paranoia, problem with your window oh have you checked your vcu search for tipex test bull****.

Anyway I hope you get it sorted and cheaply.
You can pick up a new drive shaft off ebay for £55 with a 2 year warranty.

Thanks for the advice, i've been looking on ebay. Are they good quality?

Any idea how much it will cost to get an indy to fit it?

Would it be worthwhile changing both fronts at the same time?

thanks

I would guess that it should take an hour or so for a skilled mechanic to change a drive shaft.
Depending on your experience and your tools it might be worth thinking about doing it yourself?

As far as I am aware no special LR tools involved. Just the normal BIG nut done up very tight!!!! If you can get hold of a Rave CD - Ebay or have a google. That has lots of exploded views and technical info. Torque settings etc...

Good luck.
