When I start it up in the morning and I drop down the curb the front of the car is extremely bouncy. When the front wheels hit the road it feels like something is forcing the front of the car back up. It is a very odd feeling. Is this because it's on the bump stops until it pumps itself up?

I try to go as slow as I can, but it still happens.

Driving around on the bump stops is the best way to log height sensor "out of range faults" and end up with all the warning lights on.Give the suspension a chance to get up to normal ride height,if it is taking too long then you probably have air leaks or a worn compressor - or both.
Sort it out,or it will cost.;)

How long is too long?

I have read that the self leveling while parked can get confused, so I am not sure if I may have a leak or the odd positioning when parked is intentional.

When I first got the car the o/s rear seemed low when parked. Then I parked the other way round in the same spot and the n/s front seemed low so I put that down to uneven ground.

I think I will rig up a temporary light across the compressor dc in so I can see inside the car when it's pumping or not.

What would be normal for the on - off -on - off timing if left in standard ride height?

A lot of air suspension problems seem to be because of the compresser wears out and in most cases its just the seal which is worn out.
The more you look up about the air suspension you find out that it can be fixed on a budget and not £1000"s that the anti P38 crowd tell you when you buy one of these cars.

yeah. I would love to spend a day stripping the valve block down and cleaning it and renewing seals. I would not blindly spend hundreds on a new one if that was the fault.

I went wading today and it went in to wading height quite quickly. I will have to get some soapy water around my front o/s air spring. It has to be that that is leaking.
