Hi all,

I have a 2004 Freelander TD4 which I've owned for around 6 months with only the typical issues.
Tonight, on my way home from work I encountered a new issue which has completely baffled me.

It appears a part of the casing on or around VCU has came away, causing the casing to spin freely on the propshaft and hit part of the exhaust. I managed a quick repair at the side of the road to get back home by getting it back into place with duct tape. But from what I can see the casing is held in place by a rubber/hard plastic gasket which has seen better days. I cant seem to find anything on the web.. Is this a common issue with these old work horses?

Am I correct in thinking that this is the case? If so or if not can someone point me in the right direction in order to fix?
Hopefully, should be a link to picture below

Thanks in advance,
Ross

The same thing happened to a family relations husband, he phoned me saying he had broken down as he could here a lot of clanging of metal on metal from under the car, when I looked the ring had broke free and was bouncing on the prop shaft, we cable tied it on to get him to my house and I removed the VCU and replaced it with a good known spare I had, his old one with out the ring is still in my shed to the day, most likely ok all it would need is a new ring, or even run it with out a ring, few photo's below,
