Hi all,

I have a problem with the engine of my Land rover Series 3
When the engine is running for a while, the engine makes a noisy squeak sound.
I think it comes from the exhaust valve of the third cylinder.
All the other valves are wet of oil, except for this one.
Valve clearence is good.

Please help!

Puts some rags on the manifolds etc and run it with the rocker cover off it will splash a bit oil around , it looks as if exhaust gas is passing up the valve stem.
Squirt some oil around the stem seal to see if it blows away.

Looks to me like none is getting to the top as James said. I'd be suspecting that the oilway is blocked or the bush in the rocker has spun.

Either way I'd strip down the rocker shaft, I'd pre-order a replacement rocker and bush (fairly cheap) and associated washer and make sure I'd got a torque wrench handy. I'd expect to get away with taking that off without having to replace the head gasket.

However, if the push rod is wet then it means there is oil getting from the rocker shaft into the rocker and it might be possible to slacken off the tappet adjuster enough to clean out the oil hole in the valve end of the rocker?
