Can any one tell me the tolerance is on head skimming a V8?, IE how much can be removed

You can skim V8 heads but be carefull, if you take too much off then the inlet manifold will need skimming too as it wont seat properly.

Update on my head skimming, I had both heads skimmed and the inlet manifold, we took off 5 thou, bedded the heads in fitted valley gasket, then had to reduce valley clamps. Engine now runs fine.
