Anyone help me out, my 2.5 DT doesn't have heated seats. I've recently bought a full interior and the new seats are electric and heated.

Does anyone know if the wiring loom is already in the carpet for these seats ?
 
the wiring should be there but the relays and switches/fuses wont be you will also have to have the option switched on in the becm as they still wont work
 
Whether you can have heated seats is a sort of 'maybe'.

First of all, do you actually have electric seats installed?? If so which ones, i.e. all movements controlled by switches or just the height etc??

Does your HeVAC panel have the heated seat switches??

There is no option to turn on in the BeCM for heated seats, the BeCM is either a high line version or a low line version, if its high line it will support them if its low line it wont.

The BeCM is the big compoooooter under the drivers seat. It has a silver top with heat fins on it. You plug fuses into the side of it. An easy way to tell if its high line or low line is to remove the fuse cover and wipe away the dust on the top of the fuse holder, look for a big H stamped on the label. If its there then you are in business and you have a high line BeCM. If its not there then have a look for connector C907 as shown in the pic below.

If its there then you more than definitely have a high line BeCM. If its not then you will def have a low line one.

The DT was the base diesel model and many had low specs and didnt include a high-line BeCM until later years when LR, coming to the end of the P38 model, started adding lots of toys in which would require the more advanced BeCM, so, what year P38 do you have as well.

Take in the info Ive typed and come back and answer the questions and I will try and give you some more info :D

Forgot to say, all movements are controlled via switches and I've got the HVAC unit ready to install as mine has the manual dials on..
 
year of mine says on the log book date manufactured 2003 and date first registered 2003 ?? Did have a private plate on then went on an R back to a private plate..
 
hmmm, so with the HeVAC panel you have bought does that have the A/C button and screen?? I dont think you can use that on your vehicle :confused:

Ive never heard of anyone trying it so I dont know whether it will work or not. To be honest you really need to find out whether or not you have a high line or low line BeCM before thinking about anything else.

ok, in that case the seats will be plug and play. Next, just so I can be clear, the seats you have in at the moment, are they electric??

The new seats, they are electric - are they memory seats or are they non-memory seats?? To tell if they are memory seats, look on the side of the seats where the controls are, if there are 'MEMORY STORE', '1' & '2' buttons there then you have memory seats.

Post back with what you have so I know where to go next.

the option doesn't need to be switched on as I said before. The fuse will already be in, its fuse number 2 on the BeCM (30 amp), this fuse controls the RH rear window and seat heaters. No relays needed, all the power switching for the heaters is done inside the BeCM.

forget that option, you have a diesel vehicle, not a petrol one, that BeCM would need to be sent to someone who can unlock it and then once back in your hands it would need to be programmed for your vehicle type, not worth it as you already have a high line BeCM anyway which is what you have been offered.

Look on the opposite side of your BeCM (easier said than done, you may need to pull the carpet back a bit) and search out the green connector numbered C912 in the below pic...

This is where the loom for the power seats plugs in, this connector provides power to both seats allowing all movements, it also supplies both seat heaters.

Before I go on, as I said, I really now need to know whether you have memory seats or just standard electric, non-memory seats on the set you bought.

Been looking through my bits and bobs and for a vehicle with the RH memory seat and standard electric LH seat, both heated, the loom part number is AMR2835 @ £32.09p - thats before VAT though. Remember to ask for Allegiance discount if you buy from the dealers though and you will get a 10% reduction in price.

This is the loom I have fitted to my vehicle.

If both seat have memory then I will have to look out the part number for you.

The loom is simple and easy to install though and can easily be done when both front seats are out. I will take some photos of its path if you need any help.

Ok just to get things right, i buy this harness then plug it into my BECM and everything will work on the seats ? (i don't have to get the becm switched or programmed)

Correct, you buy the right harness for your seats, plug in the connectors to the BeCM, attach the earthing eye to the earthing point, hook up the connectors under the seat and voila, you have electric memory seats. You DO NOT have to change ANY setting within the BeCM at all.

How you will get on with the new HeVAC panel is another matter and I dont know whether your DT will have the correct harness to the BeCM for the heated seat buttons to work but time will tell.

Also, you need to be aware that when installing memory seats the vehicle will then think it has the memory mirrors as well. This means when you select reverse the mirrors will go all over the place as your DT wont have the memory mirrors, this is no problem and you can turn this option off easily. The slightly more annoying problem will be when you come to recall a memory position using one of the number buttons on the side of the seat. When you store a memory position the ECU also stores a position for the memory mirrors (even if they are not there), this means that when recalling a position the mirrors sometimes move a bit, or, alot! The only way to overcome this problem is to get hold of the memory mirrors and associated wiring as well (assuming you have the high line door outstations). If you dont install the memory mirrors then when you select a stored position then the mirrors will move and you may have to manually adjust the mirrors back to their correct settings.

I hope this helps and makes things a bit clearer, I will post back with the part number for the harness thats for LH and RH memory seats.

ok, if both seats are memory seats then according to my parts catalogue you will need harness - AMR6089 - when ordering double check with the guy ordering to make sure that it is the correct one though, a harness for 2 electric front seats, both memory seats. Don't mention what you are trying to do because this usually confuses mr parts salesman and sends the guy on the other end into a fluster and he will just end up saying 'I dunno'.
