Had a Unipart oil filter bought for me.

Fitted it and the oil light took 25-40 seconds to go out at start up from cold.

Fitted a coopers one and all is back to normal with it taking just a few seconds to go out.

Are Unipart really that ****?

i always fit FRAM filters if they list the application......

BTW partco no longer exist(apart from in australia but thats a different company)......they are now only under the unipart banner (they should not even have the signs up on the building)

I wont be using unipart again, I am having a hard time getting Fram anywhere now so went for coopers which are easy to get and have been good so far.

shame really as I have 3 spare unipart oil filters now

Google terms like "Fram" and "oil filter review" and you'll find plenty of examples of why I won't use them. Might as well use a bog roll stuffed with a piece of old net curtain to filter your oil..!!

OEM (pricey) or a pukka trusted brand only for mine.

Admittedly I'd always assumed Unipart were genuinely OEM spec (especially for ex-Rover Group products); disappointed to hear they source cheap rubbish now...:(

so you dont like fram? Interesting, I cant get them anyway but funny to hear bad things about them.

I had a coopers on there the first time I got one and it was very good, seems you can almost feel the quality is better looking at it-sounds daft I know

That's strange. Still have Partco in Preston. Partco is still internet listed for UK cities. When did this takeover happen? Unipart was the parts division of British Leyland at one time.

Think the one in Elgin is still Partco but will have to check, never had a problem with unipart so concerned there is now issues with quality, always found them helpfull, reasonably priced and efficent in the past. Also the one in Elgin does have an expierienced staff who know what they are talking about.

unipart have owned partco for years they recently decided to pretty much eradicate the partco brand

also sogefi filter are all the same on the inside, out of the thousands of FRAM filters i have fitted to cars i have only ever had one problem and that was the O-ring split and leaked, on the other hand i have had dozens on problems with unipart filters ranging from not fitting to internal collapse

Unipart, Fram, Coopers, Quinten Hazel, and many others, at one time you could rely on. Now you just do not know anymore.
