was fitting a pair of driving/fog lights to my oct 2002 TD4

I fitted a new pre-made LR loom with a relay to socket c591 in the back of the fuseboard (what a bugger of a place to put sockets).
Apart from the c591 connector and the relay holder, the loom had 2 other connections.

one goes to the lamps themselves.
the other goes to the dash switch.

I took the dash housing apart to fit the new push switch in the blank position to the left of the speedo, below the rear fog light switch.

but when i pull the blanking plate out there was a 5 way blue switch connecter already in that position.
(it was pushed into the back of the blank switch. but not connected to anything.)

four of the 5 pins were connected. and went of in to the wiring loom and down behind the speedo to 'god knows where'

the pinouts were numbered 1 to 5
1 white/pink stripe
2 red/orange stripe
3 not used
4 wht/yellow stripe
5 black

any ideas what its for ?

I had a good look round to see if i could find any wire which might have been for pre-wired driving lights and couldn't see any.
any one know what it might be for ?

cheers.
richard.

ah..
could be..i forgot that some of them had CC fitted on a switch there.

so if i have all that wiring..
does anyone know if you
can you get the other parts fitted ?

Hmmn, one for the commonly asked questions thread. In theory it can be done, just need the switch and the steering wheel to suit.

there was a thread on here about 18 months ago, and the user bought everything and wired it up correctly, but didn't work. Turns out it had to be enabled using testbook, and then it should have worked. Unfortunately, we got as far as finding that out, they said they were off to a main dealer to get that sorted, and they never posted any more, so we never found out if they got it working or not.

Don't get too excited if you find SOME CC wiring in a late model.
It ain't all there and the wiring looms between the dash and centre console changed between manual and auto's in later models.
If you got all of the the wires under the driver's seat and down the column (not just under the airbag) you may be lucky but otherwise start again with an aftermarket set up.
