uneven rear tyre wear

hi all
i have a problem on the rear of my freelander the rear tyres or wearing un even but not across the width of the tyres but all over
what i mean is one tyre thread may be 5mm the one in front may be 2mm the one to the side might be 4mm
how is this possible and what could cause it

Is your tyrepressure equal on all four wheels ? Is there any play on the bearings of the rearwheels ?

Get your rear shocks tested, i have seen uneven wear across the whole tyre but only when the rear shocks are dead and the wheel bounces and loses contact with the road, at all speeds causing the weird wear pattern.

Get all 4 wheels aligned. We have had this problem of un-even wear on all tyres and had the wheels realigned which seems to have fixed the problem.
