No more than £250

I've mentioned in here before that Lyn Softley who runs Surrey Breakdown in
Purley, has an UMM which replaced a Cournil as a small tow-truck. (Background -
Cournil are French, went bust, UMM are Portugese - bought the rights and the
drawings )They are a bit crude, but built like the proverbial out-house, with
2mm thick panels and a very substantial chassis. If you are looking at one with
the nice Peugeot diesel, then it's worth more to you than £250 if you need
something as heavy as an UMM.

It may well be worth more than £250 to *him* for whatever reason. Fact is,
he will most probably be the only game in town who will even give a penny
for it, so if he is not desperate he can offer what he likes on a 'take it
or leave it' basis. But if he really, really must have it..............

hundred a year or so ago ISTR . . .

My 'instinct' on this before reading the other 2 posts was "Offer £250 and
don't go over £400" no matter how good it seems. Following up from the
'background', was it known as a 'Transcat' at some time in it's history?
ISTR the Cournil, then a UMM Transcat followed by a UMM Alter. However, my
memory is not what it used to be...
Should make a good tug / barge, though ;-)
The Pug lump might be tempting, but it didn't do much for the Mahindra from
about the same time! Mind you, those SWB Mahindras were just asking for a
Rover V8 transplant...
And some decent brakes... And decent steering... etc, etc, etc ;-)

Thanks guys, i get the idea, was looking at one..liked it, but a bit too
agricultural, like diving a tractor, was very rough on body but easily
tidied up, my problem was with mechanics, as it seems to be a parts-bin car
with bits of peugeot/renault/jeep etc so spares availability/cost was a
concern, and at £1000 thought i best check going rate for them, thanks again
