Ok, washing my chassis this morning, and I hear a hissing sound, look down there is a screw sticking out my tyre and air bubbling through the water.

Took it to kwickfit to plug it, they took it off and then told me they would not put it back on as the cord is showing to much near the bead.

So its a tube job, however, they don't have them. So I now have a road tyre on and 3 MT's!

These are courser MT's good set of tyres but the spare is currently punctured as well with a bit of a tear in it. So I really would like to get this back on the road, so does the patch and tube sound like the way forward?

I have also got the chance to buy 5 8spoke, brand new, M&S nankang tyres for £250... Think they are original LR issue. Are these any good should I get them?

Bloody punctures!

i dont understand what kwikfit are saying. if the cord is showing then the tyre is scrap, what do they mean too near the bead? was the puncture in the side wall? take it to an independant tyre place and ask them, most of the numpties at kwikfit are just trying to sell you whatever product they have been told to peddle that week. hope this helps ;)

Hi YD, the puncture was a wee screw right in the middle of the tread in the groove, filling it every day I could probally get by, but thats not really a way to behave. I took it to KF and when they took the tyre off the wheel they bent the bead up a bit and the cracks were quite deep, its been fine though.

So because it was so badly cracked at this point they said they could not leagaly refit it!

I have a tube in my garage so I will take that up to a lad at a 24hour independant and get him to fit it.

I have been looking about, I also have 4 LR wheels and 235/75 R16's problem is I only have 3 legal, I also have 3 avon rangemasters, but only 3 legal... so I need to convert 3 into one of the others to give me a road set.

Right am going to get my tyre patched and tubed and keep them for offroad.

Going to buy those new ones.

you should never, ah say NEVER use a tyre with a cracked side wall, as tyres rotate they get hot and the weakness of a cracked sidewall is very vulnerable to explode causing a blow out, just be very careful if you are using em on the road, good idea to keep em fer off roading ;)

Yeah indeed. For the sake of £230 I now own, 5 brand new 8spokes complete with brand new tyres!

Offroaders can be for playing...

That's a good price!
Where from?

Bought some LR wheels during the summer, the guy also had this set but at the time I was not intrested.

Called him back last week, he still had them so I bought them, really nice on the road.

So, unfortunatly this is not a deal anywhere!
