Anyone got experience of using snow tyres and/or snow chains?
Is one preferable to the other?
Anything else I should know about them?

Cheers.

There are traction tyres and M/S tyres (mud&snow)
and allso spike tyres.

If you need extra traction only sometimes
then you might use chains...

Some parts of the world there are even legal stuff that
prevents from using spikes thow, at least part of the year...

I use traction tyres becouse they are silent as normal
M/S tyres but works great in snow. Plain ice is little
problematic thow. If you are driving 4x4 then spikes propably
dont make that much difference.

By using only tyres that are in good condition and
keeping speed down you should be fine at most weather conditions...
