Hi all... This is my first post on the forum. My gf has just bought a defender 90 300tdi (1996) and it has come with a set of range rover wheels on it 7jx16x33ah2 is the coding on the alloys. Currently they have some 235/70/16 Hankook road biased tyres on and i'd like to change them to some decent AT tyres. is the 235/70/16 the only size i can put on these wheels? can i put 235/85/16's onl ike the boost alloys have?

Has anyone got a set of wheels or tyres they are looking to shift?

Or

Recommendations? (I will have a search on the forum, i'm sure this has been discussed a million times)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Matt :)

Its nice that some senior members that know it all have such little patience with us newbs hey. I find it on most forums ;)

From what i have learnt through searching and asking is that 7 x 16 realistically will take 265, 75 x 16 easily. Any bigger (wider) and you will need wider rims i believe (i am open to correction here).

Much taller and i think your into the grey to lift or not to lift terrotory (where i am) to avoid lock and clearance issues.

maybe you have more free time and are happy to spend it searching for answers for people to lazy to do it for themselves ?

I didnt mean any offence...although i can see how some could be taken

For a newb such as myself the search function is a bombarding experience. Only because it throws up SO MANY answers, Most relavent but there is a whole host of information to wade through it can seem a daunting task...So you ask...and then someone else does the same and again.... Vicious circle i know.

I can fully inderstand why people get frustrated with the same questions but surely its better to say nothing than scare of newbs?

I have had some great help on this forum and woud like (when possible) to offer some back ;)

Richb77 -Thanks for the info. I know exactly where you are coming from... Like I mentioned in the post this is the 1st thing i've asked... I am sure nearlly all topics relating to the defender have been covered in this forum, so it begs the question (Sean) why do we need to post anymore, just search!! Obviously the senior members have much more experience than us newb's, is it such a hardship to share it?

If i know more about something than someone else and can help them out by sharing my knowledge i will.

it's got fook all to do with sharing, or experience - tis more to do with peeps ability to use the search function and their ability read and understand the results - and to have more than 30 seconds of patience when they don't find an exact answer within the first 30 seconds of reading the search results

of course there's plenty of questions that'll not have been asked before - would you rather have a forum that's filled with posts asking and answering the same questions ?

read this thread, it's a classic example of peeps not being able to to see the wood from the trees

other forums delete such questions and you'd get a snotty PM from a mod telling you to search

215 are narrower than 235.70 and 85 refers to the profile. There lots of debate on here regarding tire sizes
