Pirelli Scorpions 215 65 16
40% roads 50% dul carraigeway 10% off road (landfill site and farms. Not green laning or anything)

The best all around tyre I've used is the Cooper Discoverer AT/3. I don't know the percentages of use, 'cause I've got ADD and I'm all over the place, but they are awesome tyres for everything from highway to off-road and they are excellent in snow.

Pirelli Scorpion STR 215/65R16 98H

Go oft road a few times a year and do about 4000 miles on tarmac. Had general grabber at2's before but removed them as they annoy in every way possible. Even if I did a lot more oft road like previous years I would still have removed them. STR's have revolutionised ma hippo's ride.

BF Goodrich All Terrain KO, ideally it would be 80% on and 20% off road but at the moment it's 90% off road because it's ALWAYS BROKED .

Had Lassa Compteus fitted before and they were **** for grip. The BFG's ride the same, no noticable loss of fuel efficiency and just a little road noise in the 20-50 mph band. At Mway speeds you can't hear 'em. Far superior tyres all round but that's why you pay more for them.

Infinity Inf-200 on mine.

Usage 75% road 25% muddy tracks and fields. Not extreme offroading but towing
a mini digger and caravan across a boggy field no problem.

Was recommended them by my mate who has a tire firm.
They replaced Pirelli Scorpions.
I can`t fault them and have 100% confidence in all weathers including snow.
Much better than the Scorpions which always felt a bit vague.
Cheaper than the Scorpions as well and I am not subsidizing Alonso so another plus there.
Would definitely buy again.

My tyres were on it when I purchased it,

Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA 215/65 R16 on the front.
Maxxis MA-S1 Marauder 215/65 R16 on the rear.

Both sets seem reasonable, only really Tarmac use,
99% round town 1% Muddy field..

Will be getting more chunky ones next time,
so I can venture a little further a field,,
I am also a tread tart..
so they will have to look good...;)

I drive about 60% on quiet back roads, 30% off road and green lanes and only 10% or so on dual carriageways - no motorways in this corner of Scotland. :(

My off-road requirements do not need A/T tyres.

The mud I go through is usually only 2 - 3" deep. I tow over wet grass and snow no bother with Continental 4X4 Contacts which are of course M&S rated - a brilliant tyre.

However a few times a year I go to the Balkans - F, B, NL, L, D, A, SLO, HR, BIH, SRB, stay a few weeks and then back home - perhaps via I or CH - 5 or 6K miles in about 5 weeks. Motorway most of the way apart from 'playing' on Alpine passes on the way home.

For that I use a different tyre - Continental ContiSportContact2 - which are W rated - they transform the handling of the Freelander, and really do stick to the road like glue. They are very quiet compared to M&S tyres.

After they've tried a decent high-speed sports tyre most folks have to re-think their ideas of what road-holding is all about, and what even a 2tonne Freelander can be persuaded to achieve. ;):D

Singvogel.

Pirelli Scorpion STR's, replaced the Michelin Syncrones which it came home with.
I did however notice when I put the first pair of Scorpions on the rear, a slight whine at around 50 appeared, crapped myself and put two more on the front within 500 miles.
Still have the slight whine which it didn't have with the Michelins, have done about 8000 miles and the whine hasn't really changed much.

But about the tyres, the car pulls trailers, horse trailers (with two locked wheels last time), rollers, chain harrows whatever through thick mud and or wet grass no problem....
