Hi - I have got 4 new michelin XZL 7.50 R16's to put on my defender and i was wondering if anybody knows what the going rate for tyre changing is these days. I just need the old tyres taking off and the new ones putting on.
I am going to get some quotes tommorow and i dont want to get ripped off!

Thanks

pop into a local tyre place and they will normally swap them over and balance then for a fiver or so

you would be best off going to a back street type place as they will normally do them off the books if you just go in with the wheels and tyres

In Recent experience, i've had to pay anywhere between 10 and 20 quid a tyre. Most place can be really arsey because they arent getting profit from tyre sales, but you are "using" them by getting them to fit the tyres. Their opinion is "why should I fit your tyres, if you didnt buy from me"
I would never buy from high street retailers, as they are much too expensive.
Try to use a backstreet garage if you can, not the likes of kwikfit, ats etc. they will either charge more, or point blank refuse (company policy!)
