Ive got a 51 plate freelander which I love to bits, with standard 215 65 r16 road tyres fitted onto standard Landrover 5 spoke rims. My question is would a set of bf goodrich 235 85 16 tyres fit onto them, as ive found a set within my budget. Don't want to get them to be lumbered with them if they don't fit.

Hi mate

To be honest I am under the impression that 215 width is the widest you can go without wheel spacers and a lift kit. I was offered similar tyres but was generally told this was to wide. Think some people have managed 225 but I went with 215/80/15 and even these were a bit close to the suspension springs.

With the 215's on there is hardly any gap between the tyre and the shock absorber.
If you want wider then you are going to have to get bigger wheels that take the 225's. Like the 17's I have just fitted to mine.

To answer your question, yes the gyres would fit onto the rims, but like has been said, not sure about fitting back onto the freelander.
I'm running 225/55/17s on mine with no problems and no wheel spacers, but these are the standard 17inch wheels.
