twin alternator

ok guys i have a Disco 2 L reg the alternator light glows in the morning on the way to work when i have the lights on!. the battery is always full starts every morning without fail. i wish to add an additional battery. because i have 2 sets of day-lighters and i fear it will put a strain on the elec system, can i just uprate the alt, or will it charge both batteries i do not have air con so i have room for another alt, but if i have 2 alts how do i wire it up please and i need a idiots guide please and the red light <..

Do a search for "split charge" you can charge 2 batteries from 1 alternator with the correct system.

Are you sure you have a D2 L reg ? L as in the model year ? Is it not a D1 facelift , as in 300tdi, type ? D2 commonly being what Td5s are referred to ?

Anyway, it sounds like you would be better getting the existing alternator fixed.Lights should not be straining its capabilities at all....

FAQs and search or all the nasty men will start shouting at you ! Its all there, with diagrams and pictures.But as I said,get the alt you got fixed first.Or buy a scrapyard one.
