Hi All,

I've recently bought my first Range Rover and love it! Apart from buying a Bluespark Pro tuning box for it (economy reasons!) I've also decided to upgrade the analogue TV receiver to the digital one (XRA500220).

I've fitted this and I can now get Freeview channels - the issue is that I don't think the old aerials are very good? I live in a good Freeview reception area, but the picture / sound keeps jumping (similar to buffering a film online).

I wondered if anyone could give me any pointers to where to buy an upgraded aerial? I've looked around and I can't seem to find much about it. This seems the place to ask! ;)

Cheers
Chris

Are you driving? If so it gonna be that way.

We often forget we have the tv option when back in the uk. If you really want to watch tv sit on your sofa at home:).
Or park up and see what it’s like.

As for the kit suggested think I may need an extension and would then have problems with low hanging trees:rolleyes:

Haha I think I'll make do.

Only reason I've wanted to upgrade it is it's the only thing (so far) that didn't work on the car so I thought I'd fix it!

But if that's the only issue I have on a 14year old car, I recon I can live with that! .....Bit of an upgrade from a passat where central locking, electric windows, aircon and finally turbo didn't work!

Cheers

Hi interesting to read just one question when you upgraded to the xra500220 did you need to recode the unit or was it simply plug in , the reason is I have been thinking of doing the same,

Hi Barry, it was a straight swap, no recoding and worked with my touch screen system in the front. As soon as I changed it I got a pic straight away. As per this convo the picture is sometimes hit and miss. But I suppose that's just how it is.

Cheers

HI thought I would give you an update. Got a hybrid box from a rr 2007 sport delivered on Saturday. Because of heavy showers didn't get a chance to give it a go today. Unplugged the old unit and plugged in the new and it works staight away .although to install the new unit I had to take out all the other bits to get old unit out.thus took about two hours .probably would have taken a lot less but had to keep stopping to take pictures of connections.

Spot on, I have to fix mine in - I was lazy and just connected it in the boot to test it.....a week later it's still like that. Good point with the pictures of connections, I'll have to do that too.

I've since been out quite a bit in the car and the reception is pretty good with the standard aerials. Not going to worry about upgrading them for the time being.

Cheers

Hi just to let you know it's two nuts at the top 4 at the bottom and two in the middle, if you remove the carpet panel and the plastic tray underneath it should come out in two pieces just do as I did and take photos of the connections so no crossed wireswhen putting back together took me about two hours but I didn't know were the nuts were I reckon if I were to do the same job know 1 hour tops , also I have used the hack that allows you to watch while in motion it does work although I would not recommend using it but it does allow you to run the engine and have a picture. Mine the picture cuts out when I start the car but using hack I can still watch picture with engine running
Chris

Cheers Barry, that's a great help. What the in motion hack? I can watch mine with engine on and handbrake on, but as soon as I out it in gear then I get a message on the screen blocking the picture, would be good if I could have it on (for passenger only) whilst moving.

Cheers

Just google l322 tv in motion and it should be the first video that comes up. It does show a dvd playing but it works for the tv as well, it's 2.57 mins long

It's illegal, for reasons that should be obvious, to have television that can be seen by the driver whilst the vehicle is moving.

I didnt tell you this but it can be done with program called Navcoder, it will all so do other little things like stop telling you your number plate light is out when you fit led bulbs.
