Turn off cabin light when doors open?

Switch on the lamp near the mirror. Always on, always off, on with door open.
In the driving seat when i look up there are 3 switches ... Centre, for the main one and two smaller lights either side of that . I have tried clicking it when doors open and doors closed but it just stays on unless i press it in halfway. The moment i remove my finger it will come back on

How do i set the cabin lights so they stay off when i open the door? Freelander 1

Thank you
JP

You can't IIRC. The switch has 2 positions, light on with the doors if out, and on all the time if pressed in.
There's no facility to turn them off completely unless you pull the bulb, or the fuse.
Why would you want the light off?

I prefer to have the lights off when i open the door .. Particularly this time of year when its dark out .. I don't want people looking into the cabin.
There is no option to have it off when the doors are open by default unless i pull fuse.

Every other car i had in the past give the option to keep lights off when doors are open

Thanks for the answer all the same

You must a have a 5 door then?!

3 door has a switch on the light to turn it off.

If I got in mine without a light on I wouldn't be able to see a thing!!!

I'm the opposite and prefer the light off when I get in.
You wouldn't like my FL2 then, it's got interior lights everywhere, including the door mirror bottoms, door bottoms, foot wells, 4 roof lights and the boot too.
The only lights that can be turned off is the roof lights, all the others come on when the unlock button is pressed, or the doors are open.
Doesn't it light up round the key hole?
Not if the fuse is pulled. ;)
