Hi there

Ive got a 2005 freelander td4 hse that i boaght with bunch of problemps, i hope its alright but ill havea few posts discussing a bunch of them.

Ive noticed that the freelander doesnt have the boost or the power as i know its supposed to have. Ive also noticed a wistle/sharp blow like sound when i drive it, so i went throughand checked the boost pipes. The thicker pipes are all fine, no holes or any damage to it, but there is alot more oil in the pipes as supposed to, so what could thatbe from? I know it will be from the turbo right?

Then ive also checked the thinner 4mm boost control pipes. On The topside of the engine the pipes are there and doesnt look damaged, but at the bottom of the engine where the turbo is, there is a boost control solonoid but no pipes connected to it, then i realized that the turbos vacuum reservoir tank is also not there.
"what a hell"!!! I thoaght to myself, right.

Tomorrow I'll go and look more specifically /carefully at what the previous owner did there, but for now i want to find out if its possible to bypass the resevoir tank?
And if it is possible, is it any since good for the turbo or for the boost of the car?

Im also guessing that because the reservoir tank isnt there and that the bottom boost control solonoid isnt connected thats the reason why there is no boost?

Please help me with this boost problem, ill appreciate your knowledge on this.

There's always some oil in the boost pipes. It normally comes from the breather connection, but will be worse is the breather filter hasn't been changed, or the valve is all gummed up.

Yes. If there's no vacuum at the boost control solenoid, then there will be no boost.

You need to replace all the pipes and fit the tank, or the boost won't come in correctly.

Hey good Sir, thanks for responding

Oky, that honestly helps me a lot on figuring out why I've got no power or boost. Will it cause any damage to the engine if I drive it like that without the bottle and other 4mm pipe work that's not there?

Another query if I may ask, the freelander's EML light comes on some times when I drive roughly about 60 kph in town, when I stop at a robot or stop street it goes off and then returns when I reach a higher speed again, on the highway it will come on at roughly 80 - 100 kph and then stay on. Obviously it goes into this limp mode where it slows me down and I can't go faster than 60-80 kph. When I slow down to about 40kph or get to a stop it goes off and so it continues.

Do you perhaps know why?

As I've mentioned in another post I've got that boost problem where the freelander doesn't have that vacuum reservoir and the pipe work down. Do you think that could cause the EML light to come on?

Hi guys

Oky so i went and i cleaned the crank filter, its a uograde system where there isnt a filter in there, but i leaned everything over there. Then, on the left side of it is a sensor for the airthatcomes in, when i wanted to disconnect it i noticed that it wasnt plugged in deep enough. I also connected all the 4mm pipes where its supposed to go but i didnt get a tank yet.
Took it for a test drive and BOOM! * everything is good, no EML light that comes on and itsgot waymore power /boost than before. I can feel that the boost isnt what itssupposed to be but i mean its way better than before, i can reach 140kph without any problems...

And now guess what hahahah

The next day while driving around i felt the clutch peddal is low and then in dropped without coming up, lifyed it uo and then it was oky for a while and then dropped again. No i dont have clutch, im guessing that its the master cylinder hey?

Anycase, im going to take it out this evening and see if theres anything i can do maybe fix it in some way just for now...
