Turbo Problem

My turbo doesn't seem to be 'howling' as loud or spooling up quite as easily as usual, and I've noticed that I seem to have to give it a bit more gas to get it to shift. I noticed that my exhaust gas temperature is extremely hot. If I place my hand 2cm away from the exhaust exit, it will literally scorch my hand, and it's certainly never felt that hot before. What kind of temperature (as a ball park figure) should the EGT be? Could this be causing any problems with my turbo and if so, what do I do in order to correct it? I have a straight through system.

I never really thought about it that way. I suppose the fact that it exits just after my passenger door means that the gasses don't get much chance to cool off along the pipe. Silencers will no doubt absorb some of the heat too? Ooo I did have a 12J. I swapped it for a 200Tdi a month or two back though :d

Yup I'm afraid it dunt get easier, sometimes you need to take a break and revisit it. But it might be worth it so stick in.

When I was a boy after shift was finished I went home then went back for the backshift. This was when all the painters and body guys came in on the side, never got paid but it was a great learning experience, more relaxed and they appreciated the extra help.
