Friend of mine had a failure of the turbo in his 2004 Range Rover. Apparently a filter failed and caused starvation of oil to the turbo. This filter is apparently not included in servicing. As his engine was a 2.7ltrs and similar to the Discovery 2.7 lump - can this failure occur in the Disco TDVIII 2002 - 2009?.

Does anyone have a part number for this?

What filter the engines oil filter? most turbo Failure is the oil feed pipe leaks leading to bearing failure or turbo seal leaks

Thought the TD5 was fitted until 2004 and then TDV6 after that?.

There is normally a filter in the oil feed pipe to a turbo.
It is not subject to routine maintenance, but should be available as it should be replaced as a matter of course when the turbo is replaced.
Unusual for it to be the cause of a turbo failure though, has it been serviced regularly?

I have never seen a filter on a oil feed pipe to a turbo can you tell me a Landrover with one fitted ? I assumed the engine oil was Filtered before it makes its way to the various feeds including the turbo
