I as anybody managed to fit a turbo gauge in a 300TDI that doesn't vibrate like the OH secret lover and make a rattling noise the same. I've fitted a flow T piece in but takes away the true reading of the gauge. Any advice greatly received,

Er... yeah, no probs like that here... don't ask about the AT temp gauge tho... that **** thing sounds like some modern number one record..

Mine is connected to the blanked EDC boost pressure sensor on the back of the plenum chamber - and piped thru the main cable grommet adjacent steering column ( if that helps ). I could put piccies up if it would help .... ????

Right then - so piccie above shows me extra gauges, in a pod off evil bay - was about £8 IIRC. cables and pipe are simply fed thru the vent at the back of the pod - no holes necessary - and the pod is double sided taped to the dash - so no screws. AT gauge on the left plays tunes to amuse itself ( but sadly not us - turn't radio up!!)

and this piccie show the pipe to the boost gauge, in green (!), from the rear of the plenum using the blanked off hole on the rear. For completeness - this is used for a sensor for EDC, which minec hasn't got anymore, hence it being available for this use. A 95 manual I am breaking has the same boss on the plenum, so I hope yours has too.... ( of course if yours has EDC, then you will need a plan B!!) gauges.jpg plenum.jpg

Thats great Thanks, going to try with the existing gauge see if it makes a difference if not I'm going to pick up a different gauge and try it, much prefer your way,.nice one thanks for your time, Ill let you know how I get on, nice pod set up by the way.

IIRC, the thread in the plenum (M12? ), is the same as the fuel banjo's - and that's what I used, off a scrapper - works well.

You must have read my mind I was going to ask do you know the thread size, I've got a few kicking about, just another quickie do you know what size diameter tube you used, I've got some silicon around 3mm int tube that's great for using and not needing a jubilee etc, I read somewhere that the more flexible and smaller diameter tube the more consistent the reading, not sure if BS or not, read it in a rally mag in the dentist, my rally disco lol shouldn't notice the difference, oh sox yes did you lock tight or ptfe or straight fit, thanks matey appreciate it,

Just checked, got a banjo of a 200tdi hopefully same, after a quick look gonna need some bigger than I've got tube, I've got some petrol pipe I'll use that and clip it,
I'm gonna try do it tomorrow I'll let you know, again thanks. Think I'm off for a beer think about the job in hand,, my son says we're all bloody nuts lol, I watch him scoot of up the road in his golf lol
 
Sorry. missed your replies. I used petrol pipe for the bit 'tween the plenum and the interior, and then 3mm silicon which came with the gauge up through the vent. Joined them with a piece of small bore copper inside the silicon, which was then pushed up into the petrol pipe, and then a jubilee to hold it together. The banjo was sealed to the plenum using some old copper washers I had and some Loctite 542. Its low pressure, and a leak is just a PITA, rather than say, a fire risk. Petrol pipe to banjo uses a jubilee.

My lad has so much trouble with his car, that the shoe is very much on the other foot:D
