Hi there,
New to the forum and on my second Land Rover incarnation, my first was in my teens, when my first car was an old 80 which I followed up with a 2a 88 diesel, which gave way to more conventional machinery, then along came marriage family and Land Rovers, were put on the back burner. Some 40+ years later I finally found myself in a position to get another one and rather blindly went for a 1978 88" petrol canvas tilt, which looked pretty but has since been found to be rather more needy than I originally thought.

Hence my first post: One of the many disappointments was to find, having taken off the modular wheels and hubcaps to replace them with conventional wheels and 750X16 tyres, that I had a conventional front hub on the nearside, but a Fairey free wheel hub on the offside!
So I would welcome any advice as to what I need to do to return the offside wheel to a conventional hub, in terms of the work involved and the parts needed.
So I would love to hear from you more seasoned Series 3 veterans as to what I need to do.
Many thanks

Welcome. Similar landy history to me . Your landy sounds nice with the canvas tilt. An unusual situation. It's actually quite easy to remove the Fairey fwh assembly. However it sounds like this has been partly achieved already. How is it capped? Does it just have std dust cap? If you can establish if it's engaged then that's fine, making it the same as the other side. That way you really don't need to do anything. Personally I'd go the other way and see if you can get hold of Fairey fwh's. Scooting around with the standard set up means your front pto and axle are turning when you drive leading to higher wear and poorer fuel consumption - axle drag. The Standard parts are all quite cheap but you cannot buy Fairey hubs new. You can get them second-hand.
